COVID-19 Resources

About

Barack H. Obama is one of the oldest schools built in Asbury Park.  Originally referred to as the Bangs Avenue Elementary School, BOES produced leaders of corporations, educators, doctors, Olympic and professional athletes, attorneys and many other phenomenal individuals.

Our school reflects a diverse set of cultural backgrounds.  Our school community is comprised of African American, Afro-Caribbean, Latin American, Arabic and European cultures.  Our professional staff speak Haitian Kreyol, Spanish, Italian and Hebrew.

The school building houses the Bobcat News Network (BNN) student news studio and the Bobcat Depot student school store.  We provide emotional supportive resources such as, our student yoga room the OBI (pronounced Oh-bee) positive behavior supportive program.

BOES cares about the safety of our students and staff.  All visitors must present official identification when entering the building.  Our building has closed circuit surveillance and officially trained security staff led by Asbury Park alum, Mr. Kwan Grier.  BOES is also home to the City of Asbury Park Police Department’s School Resource officer (commonly referred to as SRO).

BOES is transforming today’s children into tomorrow’s H.E.R.O’s!
